Biography

Francesco Scarselli was born in Campobasso on 15 April 2006 and comes from Campochiaro. He started playing the diatonic accordion at six.

Between 2015 and 2019 he won Category A at the Festival dell'Adriatico four times running, the World Championship in Montescaglioso in 2015 with 99.50 out of 100, and the one in Bologna in 2016 with 99 out of 100, in the eight-bass diatonic section. In 2016 the President of the Molise Regional Council gave him the Bimbo Regione Molise award. In 2017 he appeared on Canale 5 in The Little Big Show with Gerry Scotti; in 2018 he joined the Sicilian Tour of the World Accordion Festival; in 2019 he won the Accordeon Art Festival in Roseto degli Abruzzi.

In 2020 M° Igor Zavadsky invited him to Kyiv for two concerts. That same year he began studying jazz and variété accordion with M° Renzo Ruggieri. In 2021 he won the World Music category, open to all ages, at the Internationaler Akkordeonwettbewerb in Klingenthal.

Then came first place in 15 & Under Variety at the British College of Accordionists, the Gold Medal in Variété and the Art Accordion category at the Italia Award, Accordion Star International 2022, the Laszlo Spezzaferri International Music Prize with 100 out of 100, and the Junior category at the British College of Accordionists. At the Paolo Barrasso competition in Caramanico Terme, another 100 out of 100.

In 2023, over two months, he won the three most important competitions in the world: the Coupe Mondiale CIA in Bijeljina on 9 September with 24.07 out of 25, the Premio Internazionale della Fisarmonica in Castelfidardo on 14 September with 19.85 out of 20, and the Trofeo Mondiale CMA on 4 November.

He now studies at the Gaetano Braga Conservatory in Teramo, plays a Bugari accordion model 815/FR, and takes jazz accordion on stage in Italy and abroad.
